Safety Management Statement
The core of a Safety Management System (SMS) lies in identifying risks and implementing and documenting measures to control those risks. Risk identification forms the foundation of the SMS. These risks must be controlled by embedding barriers within care processes to prevent hazardous events from occurring. If such events do occur, corrective measures are required to prevent or mitigate the consequences (such as harm to the patient).
To support this, we actively promote the enhancement of safety knowledge among both our patients and staff, thereby fostering an environment where safety is paramount and becomes second nature. We employ all necessary resources to achieve this, including the introduction and application of a comprehensive SMS. This means we commit to systematically and continuously improving safety within our organization.
To support this effort, we have appointed a dedicated Safety Manager responsible for implementing and maintaining the SMS.
An essential component of an effective SMS is the development of the right organizational culture. We are committed to creating a culture where learning from incidents is central. Acknowledging errors honestly is seen not as a failure, but as an opportunity to improve and enhance safety for both patients and staff.
When incidents are investigated, the focus is on identifying the root cause, not on blaming individuals. This approach allows us to address the underlying issues and prevent recurrence. Questions of blame are not relevant—except in cases of negligent or reckless behavior. Although we do not expect such conduct to occur, we will take firm action against deliberate violations of laws, regulations, or our internal policies. Such behavior can have serious consequences and will not be tolerated.
We also encourage you to report any identified hazards. Learning from incidents is only possible if they are reported. This is in our shared interest, and we therefore ask for your full cooperation. Should incidents occur and corrective actions be taken in response to identified hazards, we will communicate these transparently through our formal communication structures.
Creating a safe environment is a shared responsibility. Thank you for your cooperation.
