How does the Dermazoom skin scan work?

Preparation
You undress in a private room so that we can capture a complete image of your skin. We will provide you with a bathrobe, underwear, and slippers that you can wear into the scan room.

Scan
You step into a booth where 92 cameras around you will capture photos of all your miles in less than one second and generate a 3D-avatar of your body. The scan maps all your moles with extremely high resolution.

Diagnosis
The AI technology will highlight any suspicious moles that require further examination by the dermatologist. Our Dermazoom doctors will conduct a detailed skin examination and provide treatment recommendations and a full report that you can take with you.

Follow-up
If further investigation is needed, you can choose to be referred back to your GP or specialist, or you can be followed-up in the Dermazoom institution twice a year. Based on Dermazoom's recommendations, your doctor will create a treatment plan.

Who is Dermazoom for?

Dermazoom focuses on patients with a high risk of skin cancer, you are eligible if one of the following criteria is met:

  • You have a suspicious mole possibly indicating melanoma
  • You have more than 100 moles
  • You have at least 5 very atypical moles
  • You have had at least 3 melanomas in the past
  • You have at least 3 immediate family members diagnosed with melanoma
  • You have at least 2 immediate family members diagnosed with multiple melanomas

Frequently Asked Questions

Dermazoom captures a full-body skin scan in just milliseconds. This means you’ll quickly gain clarity about any potentially suspicious spots on your skin. The entire appointment—from arrival to departure—takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

The 3D skin scan offered by Dermazoom is considered a medical diagnostic procedure; however, health insurers currently do not reimburse the scan under basic health insurance coverage. Treatments resulting from the scan, such as biopsies and operations, are covered under basic care.

Reimbursement discussions for the Dermazoom scan are still ongoing. Some insurers are open to supporting innovative technologies, so we will keep you informed of any updates.
